ABOUT US Angels With Warm Comfort began on September 12, 2001.
The country was in a state of grief, bewilderment, sorrow, anger and
depression. People from all over the country hurried to New York City, the Pentagon,
and a field in Pennsylvania to help in any way they could. How could something so devastating
happen in this country? The idea for Angels With Warm Comfort was our
answer. The response was wonderful! With the help of free advertising in the Tullahoma News, in just a matter of 3 months, we shipped over 100 items to the New York City Fire Fighters Union for the families of victims of the 9/11/01 tragedy! Today, we still seek volunteers and donations. People who will use their talents to help others; by knitting, crocheting and quilting as well as donations of supplies and money. We now distribute items to hospitals, nursing homes, shut ins, and low-income families. It's our opinion that every new baby should have a brand new baby shawl or quilt to come home from the hospital in. As said above, we're still looking for Volunteers as well as Donors. We even make afghans using scrap balls of yarn as well as new full skeins. (Ask us about our special "Joseph's Coat" afghan!) We need your donations of Red Heart Yarns in regular and baby, as well as cash to buy supplies when needed and for shipping costs. The people who receive these finished items appreciate them so very much. It's an honor to see the appreciation each and every one show.
